The Historic Preservation Commission will be discussing proposals to renovate or construct on properties located at 116 and 110 Cherry Street, both within Black Mountain's historic district. These projects require review to ensure they align with the area’s unique character, and public input is welcome. The Commission will also continue its review of draft standards and principles guiding preservation efforts, focusing on aspects like signage, color palettes, window types, and potentially creating a catalog of historic buildings.
Originally scheduled for February 19th, the meeting to consider these Certificate of Appropriateness (CoA) requests was adjourned due to a lack of members present. The hearing has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 4th at 6:00 p.m., where the public can observe and potentially participate in discussions regarding these projects. Interested residents are encouraged to attend or follow updates on the Commission's work, which directly impacts the preservation of Black Mountain’s historic charm.
