Event Preview

The Burke County Planning Board will hold a meeting on June 27, 2024, to discuss several key land use matters. The primary focus will be on two rezoning requests: one concerning approximately 7.3 acres at 1955 Jamestown Rd., currently zoned for industrial use, and proposed to be rezoned for residential development; and another regarding 1.5 acres at 3846 Martin Fish Pond Rd./3835 Dowell St., currently zoned residential, with a request to rezone it for industrial use.

During public hearings held as part of the meeting, applicants will present their requests and residents will have an opportunity to provide comments. Following these discussions, the Planning Board will vote on whether or not to approve each rezoning request. These decisions could impact property values, neighborhood character, and potential development in these areas.

Interested residents can submit written comments regarding either rezoning proposal to [email protected] or to Burke County Community Development by June 21, 2024. The meeting will be held in person at the Commissioners Meeting Room/County Services Building, and no virtual viewing options are available.
