The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will convene on March 7th to address a range of community matters. Discussions centered around the future of the Swannanoa Library, including options for continuing services at its current location, will be a key focus. Commissioners also approved plans related to a grant supporting housing for individuals in recovery from substance use disorder, following a public hearing. Several routine items were approved as part of the consent agenda, including resolutions related to firework displays at McCormick Field and a contract for demolition work at A-B Tech.

Several decisions impacting the community were made during the meeting, including appointments to various advisory boards like the Agricultural Advisory Board and Planning Board. Notably, a decision on appointments to the Early Childhood Education and Development board was postponed until April 2nd. Citizens who are interested in the future of library services or have thoughts on recovery housing programs may find this meeting particularly relevant.

Finally, the Board recognized outgoing Clerk Lamar Joyner and appointed Stacey Woody as Interim Clerk. The next Commissioners meeting is scheduled for March 19th, and decisions on the Early Childhood Education board appointments will be made at the April 2nd meeting. Detailed information, including full agendas and supporting documents, is available on the Buncombe County Government website.
