The Burke County Planning Board will hold a meeting on February 22nd at 5:30 PM in the Commissioners Meeting Room to discuss several key land-use matters. A primary focus will be on two rezoning requests: one concerning a potential expansion of the Lake James Marina, and another involving nine parcels currently zoned for industrial use that could transition to residential housing. These proposals will be subject to public hearings, allowing residents to share their views before the Board takes a vote.
The Planning Board will be making decisions on both of these rezoning requests, so community members are encouraged to attend or submit written comments by February 20th if they have concerns or support for either proposal. Additionally, the Community Development Department will provide updates on ongoing developments like the Great Meadows Rezoning and discuss how conditional zoning can be utilized as a planning tool.
For those interested in learning more, the Planning Board will also formally approve minutes from a previous meeting and schedule their next gathering for March 28th. Please note that this meeting will be held in person only, with no virtual viewing options available.
