Event Preview

The Town Council will convene on March 2nd, and the agenda includes a wide range of topics impacting our community. Discussions will center on recovering from Hurricane Helene, including reviewing expenses and exploring options for the town's unassigned fund balance. The council will also receive updates on potential developments, including a new ABC store and a proposed 115-unit affordable housing complex on Underwood Road, which will require public hearings in May. Finally, the council is considering a temporary pause on approving new data centers within town limits – a topic that will be further discussed at a public hearing in May.

Several key decisions were made during the meeting, including approving a proclamation for the Spring Litter Sweep and finalizing contracts related to town finances. The council will need to decide whether to support the annexation of land for a new ABC store, and further discussion on how to best utilize the unassigned fund balance will take place at their next meeting. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the affordable housing project and potential data center moratorium, as public hearings will provide opportunities for input.

Looking ahead, the Town Council has several important events and meetings scheduled, including a budget retreat on March 24th and an Easter Egg Hunt on March 28th. Details for these events, as well as upcoming agenda reviews and regular meetings, can be found on the town website.
