Event Preview

The Active Mobility Commission will meet on August 20th to discuss a range of topics related to improving transportation and accessibility in Black Mountain. The agenda includes updates on ongoing projects like improvements to Blue Ridge Road and addressing lighting concerns under I-40, as well as discussions on new proposals such as a potential three-way stop at Richardson and Sutton streets, and solutions for parking challenges at Lake Tomahawk. The meeting will also include opportunities for public comment before and after the discussion of agenda items.

Several key decisions are expected, including welcoming a new member to the Commission and potentially approving plans for parking at Lake Tomahawk. The Commission will also continue discussions regarding the Ridgecrest Connector, following up on previous meetings and exploring options for improvements to the tunnel connecting Veteran’s Park and the Community Garden. The Commission will also be participating in online focus groups as part of a feasibility study, so citizen input is encouraged.

For those interested in learning more or providing feedback, the full agenda and supporting documents are available on the Town of Black Mountain website at www.townofblackmountain.org, under Town Government > Active Mobility. The meeting will take place at 6:00 PM at Town Hall.
