Event Preview

The upcoming Town Council meeting on June 8th will cover a broad range of topics impacting Black Mountain. Discussions are planned regarding infrastructure improvements like pedestrian paths, the Lower Watershed Dam, and intersection safety; financial matters including tax collection reports and budget amendments for police donations; and planning & development initiatives such as dedicating new roads and revising street dedication policies. Several presentations will also be given, including updates on the Active Mobility Commission, a new golf maintenance building, and the Public Safety Building.

Several key decisions are on the agenda that could directly affect residents. The Council will be voting on approving financial reports, supporting regional transportation initiatives like WNC Passenger Rail Service, and authorizing studies to improve intersection safety. Residents may also be interested in discussions surrounding bear-related concerns, zoning enforcement at a specific property, and the potential for a partnership with the Development Finance Initiative.

Finally, the Council will be discussing appointments to the Planning Board, which could impact future development decisions in our community. While no immediate action is planned regarding the Lower Watershed Dam, staff will be researching options to address ongoing bear concerns.
