Event Preview

The Black Mountain Planning Board will meet on May 18th to discuss several key items impacting our community. The primary focus of the meeting will be a request to rezone a property at 433 Lakey Gap Road, currently zoned for residential use. The owners are seeking to change the zoning to allow for potential business activities, such as meditation instruction and massage services. The Planning Board will review this request and ultimately vote on whether to recommend approval to the Town Council, who will make the final decision.

Beyond the rezoning request, the board will also finalize minutes from previous meetings and address updates related to recent amendments to town ordinances concerning signage and data processing facilities. These changes aim to provide more flexibility in how businesses display signs and proactively prepare for potential data center development. Residents may be interested to learn more about these adjustments, as they could impact businesses and properties throughout Black Mountain.

Finally, the Planning Board will continue to monitor ongoing projects like the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) and seek clarification from Town Council on its status. Information about all agenda items, including the rezoning proposal, is available on the Town of Black Mountain website at www.townofblackmountain.org.
