Town Council Meeting

The Town Council meeting on August 10th will cover a wide range of topics impacting Black Mountain, including updates to our flood prevention and stormwater management plans, discussions about land use development, and approvals related to town finances. You can expect conversations around important infrastructure projects like easements with Duke Energy, as well as recognition of community contributions to the Dr. John Wilson Community Garden and renewal of the Art in the Afternoon lease. The council will also review a strategic plan for stormwater management and consider options related to residential unit rates.

Several key decisions are on the agenda, including a potential vote to approve a one-year moratorium on street dedications to the town. Importantly, public hearings are scheduled for September 14th regarding proposed changes to flood damage prevention and stormwater ordinances – these hearings will provide opportunities for residents to voice their opinions. The council will also be making appointments, approving various financial reports and contracts, and finalizing budget amendments for the current fiscal year.
