Event Preview
The upcoming Planning Board meeting on November 17th will primarily focus on two significant subdivision proposals that could impact Black Mountain. The Board will continue reviewing plans for a 13-lot development on Old Lakey Gap Road (High Top Colony) and a 12-lot subdivision at the intersection of North Fork Road and Walker Cove Road (Myers North Fork Road Subdivision). For the North Fork Road project, a recent determination identified an ephemeral stream on the property, and the town is working to confirm adequate water availability for the development. A public meeting will be held during the November 17th session to discuss both applications, and nearby property owners have been notified.
Several key decisions will be made at this meeting, including further review of the subdivision applications and a discussion regarding a draft update to Black Mountain’s development rules, with a target completion by the end of the year. The Board will also approve meeting agendas and minutes from previous sessions. Residents interested in either subdivision proposal are encouraged to contact the Planning Board planner, Russell Cate, with any questions or concerns.
Finally, the meeting will include updates on a project to extend a public water system along Old Lakey Gap Road, currently awaiting approval from the state's environmental quality department. The public is invited to attend the meeting at Town Hall (160 Midland Avenue) on November 17th at 6:00 PM to learn more and provide input.
