Event Preview
The Active Mobility Commission will meet on October 20, 2026, to continue discussions regarding several key projects aimed at improving pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure in Black Mountain. The agenda includes a continuation of the conversation surrounding walking trails, as well as updates from the Town on related initiatives. Public comment will be an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts and concerns with the Commission.
A significant item on the agenda involves EB5547, a project that is nearing completion. The Commission will need to decide whether to approve additional funds for the project or return grant funding, a decision that could impact its final scope. Updates will also be provided on the Veteran’s Park Bridge and Flat Creek Greenway projects, both of which have selected design firms. Additionally, the Commission will hear about ongoing work related to Montreat College trails and preparations for bridge construction on Blue Ridge Road.
Finally, the Commission will review minutes from their September meeting and consider a motion for approval. Residents interested in learning more about these projects, providing input on the walking trail discussions, or understanding the financial implications of EB5547 are encouraged to attend or watch the meeting.
