Event Preview

The upcoming Town Council meetings will focus on several key areas impacting our community, particularly regarding flood safety and the town budget. Discussions are underway to update the Floodplain Ordinance, potentially increasing building requirements in flood-prone areas – a public hearing on these proposed changes will be held on June 9th. Council members are also finalizing the FY 25/26 budget, which currently proposes no rate increases.

Several other items are on the agenda that could affect residents. The council will continue discussions about improving our town center, addressing stormwater issues on Wilkie Way, and supporting the popular Farmers Market. They will also be reviewing updates related to repairs from Tropical Storm Helene, and considering a proposal for the ABC Board to establish a capital improvement fund.

These meetings offer opportunities to learn more about these important issues and provide input where possible. The public hearing on the Floodplain Ordinance is a particularly significant event, as it will directly influence how we prepare for and respond to future flooding events. Meeting schedules and agendas are available on the town website, and residents are encouraged to attend or watch online.
